The New Inspection Framework in Practice
Date: Wednesday October 7th, 9.30 - 12.00 or 6.00 -8.30 Location: Worcester
Target Group:
This staff development session is one of four, which are designed for early years practitioners at all levels, who may be present during an Ofsted inspection. It is aimed at those working directly with children and responsible for promoting quality of education, personal development, behaviour and attitudes. It is suitable for key persons and leaders/managers working in private day nurseries, pre-schools, childminders, independent nursery schools, state nurseries, and other organisations.
Rationale:
All children are entitled to high quality provision and inspections are part of the national quality monitoring process. It is essential to ensure that all staff understand the revised Ofsted inspection requirements and are familiar with the handbook and grade descriptors so they become embedded in day to day practice. Those working with children need a detailed knowledge of the framework in order to develop and improve their practice and be fully confident in the event of an inspection.
Aims:
To develop an in-depth knowledge of the revised inspection handbook and that came into force from September 2019
To develop a clear understanding how the inspector conducts an inspection and gathers evidence to reach judgements on quality
To be able to use the inspection handbook as a tool for auditing, refining and developing quality
Session Outcomes:
By the end of these sessions you should:
- Know and understand key criteria for judging quality and what they mean in practice
- Understand the importance of your role during an inspection visit
- Understand what the inspector will be looking for during the inspection
- Understand and develop confidence in answering questions and speaking to an inspector, in the context of your own role
