Session 3
Inspecting the Quality of Education: Intent, Implement and Impact
At: The Courtyard Nursery School, 2 Barston Lane, Solihull, B92 0HS - 6.30pm-9.00pm
Target Group:
This staff development session is one of four, which are designed for early years practitioners at all levels, who may be present during an Ofsted inspection. It is aimed at those working directly with children and responsible for promoting quality of education in the EYFS. It is suitable for key persons and leaders/managers working in private day nurseries, pre-schools, childminders, independent nursery schools, state nurseries, teaching assistants and other interested organisations.
Rationale:
Quality of Education is firmly emphasised in the Ofsted Framework and is a limiting judgement. The renewed emphasis and changing terminology can be confusing for practitioners. This session examines and demonstrates what is meant by quality of Education and how it can be demonstrated in practice. It is led by senior staff and a director of five outstanding settings.
Aims:
To develop your knowledge of the earl years inspection criteria relating to Quality of Education
To develop understanding of the emphasis on Intent, Implementation and Impact
To provide strategies for evidencing the quality of education you provide in your setting
Session Outcomes:
By the end of these sessions you should:
- Know and understand the Ofsted criteria for judging the Quality of Education
- Understand and explain the three aspects of planning for quality – Intent, Implementation and Impact, in relation to routine and planned activities
- Begin to identify evidence of the quality of educational provision in your setting
