'For the professionals, by the professionals'

Our Story

Pathways Educational Training and Consultancy (est. 1990)  now trading as ‘Early Years Services’, offers an extensive range of consultancy services, related to Early Childhood Education and Care. Our director, Dr Caroline Jones brings passion, knowledge and expertise to our team of consultants.  Caroline is an independent educational consultant working in the UK and abroad. She taught in special and mainstream schools and worked as special educational needs coordinator (SENCO) for 15 years. She established her own group of nurseries in 1989 and had lived experience of the impact of policy on practice. Caroline, a Cambridge graduate, has a PhD in Education awarded by the University of Warwick, UK. Caroline was closely involved with the DfE in the development and delivery of Initial Primary Teacher Training Programmes, and Early Years Foundation Degrees. She was Course Director of the FdA and BA in Early Years Professional Studies, at the University of Warwick for 15 years. She is a lifelong, founder member of the Foundation Degree National Network and an Associate Fellow in the Centre for Lifelong Learning at the University of Warwick. She has developed numerous undergraduate and postgraduate Early Years programmes and online course materials. Her research and publications include books and papers on inclusion in the early years, leadership, quality and special educational needs. She is currently editing a series of books relating to global perspectives on inclusion in education and society, with contributors from India, USA, Europe and Madagascar. Caroline advises and supports policymakers worldwide; she has worked and travelled extensively for example to Ukraine, Singapore, Turkey, Cyprus and Morocco. Caroline is currently a visiting professor at the University of Ibn Zohr, Morocco, where she has co-chaired the International Conference on Quality in Education (ICEQ), since it was established in 2016. Her specific interest is equity and human rights, giving a voice to young children, and removing barriers to inclusion in early education. Her research areas relate to minority groups, including refugees, children with unique needs and disabilities, and learners from diverse social, linguistic and cultural background.
